In the two weeks since it opened I have found this place to be very cool. A much better place to have Oomph coffee than Oomph. Adam plays records in that down tempo break beat / drum and bass / jazz style that often commercialised and put on Cafe Mix cds. It is nice to have the real thing. Complete with gaps where he changed records between making Lattes or pouring beer. This cafe serves as the bar for the Peacock Theatre. Adam is from South Australia so his personal touch is that you can take a long neck of Coopers Pale into the theatre to make a dull play better. I have tried two of the wines and found them to be nice. A real surprise for a theatre bar. (A first for me in fact). I have eaten there twice and enjoyed it both times. I will comment more on the food after going a few more times. Unlike the previous incarnation of the cafe (Suttons) it is open for breakfast. So if you are in Salamanca and do not want to face the touristy cafe strip of the square drop in to Red Tricycle for a more relaxing experience.

They sell Mountain Goat Hightail Ale. Possibly my favourite beer. At least in the top 5.
Drink it. Encourage them to keep it. |

| I noticed their gig on Friday night seemed to go off really well. |

Tricycle, salamanca, peacock foyer
yeah right. this place is my new fave for quick lunchies.
they managed to tart up an egg, lettuce and mayo sandwich really well. think the little tricksters whacked some erbs in there...
i'm getting pretty pretty pretty pretty sick of buying a sanga with day old bread in it. i'm also sick of bullsh!t SALs.
give this one a go ladies...
nice ambience and staff too. |

| I love it here. The 70's decor, the friendly staff, the delectable coffee and the extensive, innovative menu. The only thing I don't love is the cold, but I guess there isn't much they can do about it. So I wrap up warm and head on down to Tricycle every Friday to sample their friands, parsnip cake and dark hot chocolates, to peruse the variety of vegetarian options on their menu, and then say, "Oh dang it all" and have a chicken burger, because with its fennel crust, it is out of this world. |

Friendly staff, great coffee and an ever changing menu of excellent sandwiches make this cafe a must visit. Situated in Hobart's trendy / arty Salamanca Arts Centre, Tricycle is a meeting spot for artists and fits in perfectly to the bohemian atomsphere with a decor of old tricycles suspended over the bar.
A note on music and a vote in favor of it - I went in there and heard Edith Piaf playing! It's nice not to have to listen to the same old cafe tedium.....
The only possible quibble I can make might be about heating in the winter months, but this is an issue with a lot of old buildings in Salamanca and especially a foyer / atrium area with a high ceiling. Rug up if you have to, it's well worth it! _________________ Matthew Dewey

I found this place good for breakfast- the setting is a bit strange.... "am I sitting on some stairs or in the bleedin' hallway here? "
the coffee was fairly decent.... although the waiter fucked up the milk with one of the coffees, he quickly changed it without any fuss.
The eggs were tasty ... the bacon quite oily and not 'crispy' as advertised. Everyone I was with however enjoyed their breakfast, and we got food quite quickly although it was busy saturday morning.
Good to see friendly staff who enjoy their work.
However, the dress standards of the staff were such that they would not even get through the goddam front door at one of my places, but I guess they were being bohemian and 'arty' ... whatever...
Place was nice and warm from the ceiling heaters but would probably chill off a bit in middle of winter... _________________ A A Gill can go f*ck himself |

Went there on Saturday and they had stopped breakfast because they had run out of bread. I wasn't too fussed, but it did make me wonder why they didn't just go out and buy some more...
Good coffee, but. |

| I wasn't all that hungry and wanted something healthy but sweet at this hideway from the bustle of Salamanca. I opted for the mini breakfast trifle - which was a poached fruit, muesli and greek yoghurt treat in a cup. So delicate and delicious - a great healthy option instead of cake. I did see that they had gorgeous cakes and slices - all homemade of course! My latte was a bit late - more than 10 minutes and they didn't seem to be too worried whether I got it or not. I accidently sat at the big table because of the long seat with the cushions on it. I mean, I wanted to sit on a cushion! One tip, maybe a cushion on some of the chairs at the smaller tables. Otherwise, very hip and trendy. I will be going back. |

Yes yes yes.
Top spot.
Magnificent coffee, and I have had some very good food here.
It has that arty inner urban vibe which usually comes with the expected dose of arrogance, but not here. The staff are friendly. And the food chick is pretty darn hot.
I gotta say it, bloody good coffee. And I asked the barista ( Adam, partner of hot food chick ) and it is Fairtrade, AND Organic.
Here's the thing though, and it is starting to freak me a bit.
Nearly every place around Tassie that I am enjoying, and that is serving decent through to excellent coffee is serving Oomph. What gives?
I don't care if I'm seen as biased, I am going into their store again and ask more about them, do a bit of research. This is a bloody good Tassie company.
Back to Tricycle. Good, very good. |

The BLT from here has become quite fave breakfast option for me recently. Latte as well.
I'm thinking it's the best coffee in the area. |
