We heard on the grapevine that you could get Peking Duck at this new place in Sandy Bay. We were there within hours. They didn't have their full menu running, but I will definitely be back to check it out. We went for the $40 banquet so we could get a good idea of what they had to offer.
There was a hot and sour soup that had a great broth and was full of unidentifiable seafood and fungus. One of the best I have had.
The Peking Duck didn't have any chilli and was a bit cold, but it helped to quell an acute craving.
There were some other noodle dishes and dumplings and things. They were all great.
The place itself was really nice, we sat outside, but inside looked good. The service was very attentive, although the waitress was wearing bizarre PVC trousers.
Great potential. Look forward to eating there again. |

Did it solo-stylee tonight.
Salt and Pepper squid. Fucking immaculate.
All the orders coming out of the kitchen looked as fab as toast.
It was packed. Thus, service wasn't the best, but this seemed to affect others more so than me. If I had company the timing would have been fine.
Am I right in thinking this is the only "real" chinese restaurant in town.
It's certainly my new fav, that's for total. |

| Yep I rate it. Just sitting in there waiting for take away watching the chaos was worth it. |

It was real. It had amazing flavours in it that I'd never tasted before, something that happens extremely infrequently once you reach a certain level of age and jadedness.
Brilliant. |

We just went tonight. Maybe because it was a Sunday it was quiet. The service was very good. The food was good.
My hot and sour soup was good, in that thick, rich, kind of way.
The dumplings were great. We had the pork dumplins with ginger and vinegar dipping sauce, and the Chicken and Prawn dumplings with chilli oil . Both really good. The Chicken and Prawn dumplings were the better option. They were clearly hand made, and the sauce was almost like a broth.
We drank cheap chinese beer. $5 a bottle. It was easy to drink, and matched the food well.
Our mains were only fine. I felt I made the mistake of ordering something that was safe for Westerners, the deep fried pork ribs with five spices, and chilli. It was tasty, but it was a let down after the great entrées. If I was new to chinese food, or was feeling like something safe, then I would have been delighted with it.
For dessert I had the red bean donuts. The were good, but probably not worth the extra money. They also took a long time to come out.
Overall, it was a good dining experience. I will go back and try the more adventurous mains soon.

Some time ago they introduced a 10% take-away discount.
This compares to the staggered bonuses at Me Wah, and the free Large Special Fried Rice for a $25 spend at Bamboo. |

| It is an uncomfortable take away experience at the Bund unfortunately, seated on some lonely chairs in the middle of the restaurant. Everytime I stood to get a mag, or grab the menu to re-read for fun someone rushed over and insisted i sit down! |

had dinner here on friday night and quite enjoyed the food. steamed dumplings were ok, but the main course of sweet and sour chicken was lovely. nothing like the flourescent pink sauce that can render you blind from bain marie!
partner had peking duck rolls which were nice but too much cucumber for my liking however he was disappointed with his main course of shredded beef. he found it too sweet however he has a palate that is about as a developed as kyle sandilands brain.
service was too over attentive (had about four different people serve us) and a bit slow but overall, was good. |
