Great location and decor. Disappointed with my meal though.
It was a home made beef and ale pie, with too much boring pastry and not enough filling. Accompaniments were a bit tasteless. Didn't know if it was onion jam or a chutney, but had no punch.
Dull for the price.

I mentioned the name of this place to some friends and they thought I was joking.

We've been going there, on a sort of retreat, for several years. I've taken numerous interstate and overseas guests over this time and I continue to go back. The view is exceptional. up the Channel to Mt Wellingboot. A walk through the farm's fields gets one up close to essential oil growing, and a forest of tall timbers waits at the top of a small hillock. Just stunning in any weather! The cafe building, cradling a groaning frog pond, is airy, bright and warm - made cheery in winter by a log fire.

I assume the place has changed management, because last visit (in winter) the cafe had new staff. They were very pleasant and the new menu, although rather smaller contained a reasonable variety of local ingredients - imaginatively prepared.

On the last visit I had a pasta dish decorated with goat's cheese, spinach and considerable handfuls of smoked salmon. it was delicious.

I'm hoping on my next visit to have a wider variety of fare, and particularly a wider choice of local wines. Previous management made a feature of tasting platters of local fare. The serves were very generous and teamed with local wines made for some exceptional outdoor dining experiences.

The cafe offers gluten free fare. Wheel chairs might have a bit of a battle on the unmade path, but the quest would be worth it at the end. Toilets are big enough for disabled access too.

After being put off by the name for a long time, ended up lunching here recently and loved it. Their forte is beautiful vegies with not much done to them, but what is done to them is extremely tasty. Went again today and was just as good. Meat dishes equally pleasing. Desserts good. Gluten/wheat-free options. Don’t bother ordering a smoothie…rather bland. Service has been great despite minimal staff.

My family went for lunch and had a good time. We ordered two different pies and an antipasto style plate.

There were some strange inclusions in the dishes. It seemed like they were trying to please everyone rather than commit to their own tastes. For example their were six small salads along with my pie. And they served the same six salads for the different pie. Even though some clashed with the particular pie type.

But it was a small complaint on a pleasurable experience. If Pepermint Bay looks busy then just keep going to Grandview or Flurty's.

They only seemed to have Tasmanian wine. The coffee was surprisingly acceptable. Will go again.

From my two experiences here (a year apart, mind you) I can only say that Fleurty's is a hit and miss affair.

We went for the sculpture trail last year. Great experience. Bracing weather but a chance to get into the bush and discover a sequence of quirky sculptures. Followed up with some great cafe-style food quite reasonably priced and good coffee we decided we'd be back.

Well it took a year, but this year's sculpture trail enticed us down the channel again. This time hunger got the better of us and we decided to eat first. The place was packed so we had to settle for a table outside. Did I say it was bracing last year? The service was great, if you didn't want anything to eat. Friendly smiles, water brought to the table. When a table was free inside it was offered to us and we accepted, but to constantly be told, "I'll be with you shortly," when we tried to order was frustrating. After half an hour we left. Didn't even bother to check out the sculptures and it's doubtful we'll be there next year.
